Currently, Tianjin University (TJU) offers a robust array of 34 doctoral degree programs across Level 1 disciplines, 47 master’s degree programs in Level 1 disciplines, and 17 professional master’s degree programs, in addition to its engineering doctoral offerings. The supervising faculty, with an average age of forty-six years old, exemplify both admirable ethical standards and significant scholarly achievements. Notably, 15% of these supervisors are distinguished academics, including members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Presently, the institution enrolls approximately 20,000 graduate students, including nearly 6,000 doctoral candidates.

Discipline Structure: Tianjin University currently offers 34 doctoral degree programs (Level I Disciplines) and 47 master’s degree programs (Level I Disciplines), along with 7 Level I National Key Disciplines, which encompass a total of 21 Level II Disciplines.

Graduate Curriculum: The university boasts approximately 20,000 registered full-time postgraduate students, which includes around 6,000 doctoral students, approximately 14,000 master’s candidates, and close to 5,000 part-time graduate students.

Supervisors: When TJU reinstated its graduate admissions in 1978, the university had only 67 supervisors for master’s and doctoral students. Today, this number has dramatically increased to nearly 20,000.
